Holland in America

Norbert and I visited Sauvie Island today – just a bit north of Portland. If you’re not a plen-aire painter – you would become one just to cast eyes on the fields of berries and wheat and the cotton ball clouds. Here on the longest day of the year, twilight at this northern parallel never seems to surrender to the night.

We went to the beach, Norbie drew cartoons in the sand and we went berry picking.

Alas, the mosquitoes are celebrating summer too. Here’s a quickie video of the day, ending in Portland at the sushi train…
