Our Cascabel Thanksgiving and assorted Arizona autumnal activities

It’s that time of year when we are very grateful to have a home base in Arizona. While winter storms begin pummeling the rest of the country, we’re enjoying crisp, cool nights and abundant sunshine during the days. The evening air smells faintly of mesquite fires and the birds songscape changes adding in the winter migratory birds to the music. All our doors are open during the day and cycling is at its best.

We spent Thanksgiving with Erik and Christopher in Cascabel, a small hamlet about 90 minutes from Tucson. They live in a tiny stone house Erik built by himself on a remote piece of land up miles of dirt roads. They live off the grid with solar power and well water providing just enough for themselves. It’s a great place to visit and they’re lovely guys. See the video and pix below…

  1. FUN-tastic

  2. Beautiful Thanksgiving–thanks for sharing! Erik’s house looks amazing. Is it as remote as it appears in the photos?

Tucson Symphony performing Wizard of Oz? You’re a great white trash Dorothy! When is the performance?

I’m still in Pai, waiting until probably February to go back to Woodstock, and hope the worst of the winter will be over. Meantime am enjoying Pai winter, looking forward to seeing many friends who all seem to want to visit at the same time. This week I’m expecting Deb from the UK/CM and a couple of CA friends. I hope they’ll all hit it off. I know you said a couple of your friends are coming–what are their names?

Watched Presidential Medal of Freedom ceremony on YouTube last night. I wept upon seeing Pres. Obama, his warmth, intelligence, sincerity, comparing with what is soon to come. Tragic!

I’ve finally canceled my cable subscription. After the King died, all normal programming was stopped for about a month or more, except for sports. Some Thais will wear black for a year–do they think that will assure them a place in Nirvana. The funeral pyre hasn’t even been built yet. I wonder where and how they are keeping the body. On ice? Embalmed? It may still be on display. Gory!

Be well and take care of each other.

Love, Dianna P.S. almost forgot, if you haven’t seen it, you can get on YouTube “Unconditional Love ” with Jonathan Pryce and Kathy Bates. You’re sure to enjoy it.
